As usual LOVE going here during happy hour. I can't wait for the construction of that freaking deck to be finished! Outdoor seating would be awesome here (for a places that's already awesome!) Bartenders are still friendly and make great cocktails. I love the pork buns and calamari! :)

The best sushi at the beach. It's just as good as its sister company in Wilmington, Mikimotos, which is also really great. The Brooklyn Bridge and Hairy Mexican rolls are my favorite. One plus for Stingray that Mikimotos doesn't have is their grilled asparagus with blue cheese. It's consistently perfect.

Second year and stillllll pathetic! Girls in front are soooo lame. - they honestly hate customers - do not bother !!!

Once you get past the hate brigade as you go into the restaurant, things improve, sort of. The young ladies that greet you as you come in are awful. If I wanted snotty ignorant attitudes, I'd have gone to a high school cafeteria for dinner. When we arrived (6 in our party), we noticed many open seats and were excited that this should be easy, only to be confronted with, sorry, 30 minutes wait. We went into the bar area to wait and were greeted with the stench of vomit coming from the floor by the two empty seats in front of the bar. I advised the bartender who did alert some staff nearby though no action was taken to address the odor. After noticing there were nearly 100 seats open, we inquired as to why the wait. A nice frothy indignant attitude of how dare you ask was followed up with a "we are under staffed" so you'll have to wait with a snide thank you for the info about the open seats, we had no idea! A bit later, we were seated at the high tops in the bar area, which was fine, the seats were fine and accommodated our party comfortably. The waitress was pleasant and attentive and was consistent throughout our visit. We ordered some appetizers, the Calamari and Duck Pot Stickers to share and they were ok, just standard fare food, nothing exciting. Our meals were satisfactory to very good, depending on what one ordered and what your experience with food is. The sushi ranged from just ok to very good. The short ribs were excellent, and the Sea Bass was ok but oily. As we finished up, the manager came along to see how we were doing. We spoke for some time, mostly regarding the immaturity at the front door. The manager was pleasant and responsive to us and partly addressed our concerns. Overall, the visit to Stingrays was satisfactory.

Loved it. Avocado cheesecake is the best.

I really love the quality of food here. A little more quaint than the pearl and the sushi is better too. I like to sit outside its cozy and usually a small group in the table next to you having drinks and fun.

I had the best sushi of my life at stingray and I'm a sushi snob! I tried to pick a favorite and couldn't pick between the 7 I loved most. In addition to the taste the presentation was exquisite! It was so beautiful I almost didn't want to eat it. But of course I did. We had the added pleasure with our meal with awesome service. Our waitress was so knowledgeable about the products and made the meal so much more fun teaching us things and explaining each roll that we asked about. Brynn was just a delight and just added to the experience. the perfect meal! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I do!

This place was fantastic! We left another sushi place and walked here. What a score!. Our server, Tamara, was exceptional. best curry and veggie sushi ever. We are local and will be back!

Came here for a late lunch because it was down the street from our B&B. It was a huge place and completely empty (we were the only customers), but it was 3PM on a Saturday so maybe just an off time. Between four of us we ordered 8 small plates/sushi entrees, but weren't able to finish all of them. Nothing particularly remarkable but the food wasn't bad. Service was kind of slow, and we had a hard time finding our waitress to get the check. Would only return out of convenience.

    (3)
  • Andrew R.

Honestly the 3 stars is for the service. The food was excellent. We were are party of 8. One of my friends requested that we get separate checks when we were seated. Sometimes that's easier so people don't argue over who pays what. Needless to say at the end of dinner we were given one check and told with large parties they don't split the bill. Not cool. Very slow getting drinks, and my friends martini was served in a cracked glass. It was another 15 minutes before the drink was replaced. The food however was excellent. Sushi, edamame, calamari all excellent.

Went here a couple weeks ago (not my first time) and loved it even more than the first. If you make it during their happy hour, you can get 2 for 1 sushi rolls. It used to have to be the same roll, but this time they let us get any roll of equal or lesser value. We got a bunch of rolls to share and they were all delicious.

  • Mike S.

First time here and it was awesome. Sampled a few apps and order sushi. The fish in the sushi was fresh. Stingray is well worth the trip and definitely some of the best sushi in the Lewes/Rehoboth area.

  • Janeene S.

This place is amazing, right off the main strip of Rehobeth beach & the fashion works well. Love the atmosphere & the sushi rolls were just the right size & full of flavor. Taco appetizers were HUGE! This restaurant looks like one of the ones you'd see in South Beach. Will definitely be back!

  • Victoria K.

The sashimi and sushi is fresh and beautifully presented. That's all I can speak of on the menu because it's why I go there. A nice vibe with attentive bartenders and waitstaff. I enjoy the porch - it can be intimate and relaxing unless there's a large party out there. The Tuna Avocado Salad was a delicious surprise, large enough for two to share.

  • Dustin L.

Stingray was FANTASTIC! From the ambience, to the artfully crafted sushi rolls, to the WONDERFUL wait staff... Our waitress, Brynn was so personable and KNEW. HER. STUFF. Five stars for her alone. Also. Get the Avocado Cheesecake. Trust.

  • Matthew A.

Went here for my birthday dinner and had a marvelous meal. Had a delicious and ample martini followed by some excellent rolls. Would absolutely go back. A little pricey but worth it. Our service was excellent, not sure what all these other reviews are going on about.

  • Jen K.

Brynn was our waitress- she was really knowledgable about the food and drinks- sushi was awesome and fresh- great atmosphere!!

    (5)
  • Olivia S.

We came with a large party ie 13 people, which is large enough to run anyone around, however, the service was ridiculous! The waitress said "would you like separate checks?" When what she really meant was "we can only do 1 check, so too bad!". With 13 people and 1 check, it gets ugly. On top of that, water comes our sparingly in large bottles...for 13 people, not enough! Drinks were rationed out based on when the waitress thought to ask if we wanted more and she never waited long enough to hear all the requests. Appetizers came and went and miso soup never appeared and neither did the sprite. The food review tops as a 3 star....mainly because we were starving and would eat our arm and think that was delicious! In any event, skip the whole place all together!

Fantastic sushi I adore the firecracker roll salmon inside and out fresh with a splash of hot sauce. The staff is very nice remembers your name and attractive.

    (5)
  • Angela B.

The sushi rolls are small and aren't very fresh and over priced. The avocado and crab dish is an odd combination and tastes just as odd. It is very noisy. Will not return.

    (2)
  • Chris Y.

Was one of the best meals I ever had, a little pricy but well well worth it. The avocado cheesecake was everything.

  • Noah K.

For 8 years this place has offered the absolute best sushi. Always fresh always great service. The manager there (Andrea) is the queen of an amazing customer experience. Sleeves up always jumping in to make sure every detail is in place and all cylinders are firing. Hands down one of the best places to go for sushi in the country.

    (5)
  • Juan T.

the place was great. Sushi only HH. 2 rolls for the price of 1 and they are big rolls and barely any rice :) win win situation. They have their own parking lot and its a huge restaurant. Just wished they had drink specials to match the Sushi. The sushi is not bad at all, its actually pretty darn good. they also make guacamole that was pretty tasty but just needed a bit of heat to it. Service is ok. we asked for water, then we had to ask again since it never came. Also asked for jalapenos for the guac but never came then we flagged another server/waitress and she got us some. Overall it was a pleasant place to go. PS: they are building an outside seating area that so far is looking great.

  • Richard F.

Man, the theme of "great food/pathetic service" is starting to get tedious. But yeah, that's Stingray to a T. My wife and I both served time in the restaurant industry, and (I think) we're pretty tolerant overall. Plus, we recognize the difference between a waitress in the weeds who's trying her best, over one who just doesn't care. First off, the food: The signature martinis are pretty sensational. The Stingray has hints of lime and wasabi, while the Last Dance with May Jane is almost like Bloody Mary meets Margarita. First sip brought about quizzical looks, but we ordered another round as soon as they were gone. Duck Breast Potstickers? Tasty. Vietnamese Pho? Huge, and full of flavor. Hot & Sour Pork = deelish. It's a fairly schizophrenic menu, with Japanese (tons of sushi options), Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai, plus an equally broad Latino list or small and large plates Transportation of the food and drinks to our table was another story altogether. Our waitress looked a bit busy, so we were patient when it took her a good 15 minutes to greet us after we were sat. Drinks too 10 minutes plus (even our son's Coke!) "I'll be right back" was her mantra, but she was never "right back" at any time. And lack of training was evident when she'd visit her section to drop off one small thing, and then try to beat feet outta there like a ghost, without so much as a glance at her other tables. Guests near us were constantly shouting "excuse me" to get her attention before she disappeared yet again. I'd use two words to describe the service: 1) apathetic 2) aloof. Example: I was sitting next to the gas fireplace, and given the cold temp outside, it felt pretty good. However, when a party was seated next to us and complained that they were warm, she immediately shut the fireplace off without asking anyone else's opinion. Duh! When you consider that Rehoboth is the big leagues for dining (even the bars take food seriously), there's no excuse for Stingray to drop the ball on service as they'e been doing, judging by the other reviews here. Even our local friends who had their wedding rehearsal dinner there last year have stopped coming, courtesy of bad service and rude bartenders. Next time we want sushi in Rehoboth, we'll hit Cultured Pearl. Next time we want really good high end Asian? Confucius is awesome. Then there's Eden, Fins, Henlopen Oyster House, Bramble & Brine, aMUSE, Salt Air...you get the picture. When I leave a restaurant after a $200 dinner, I wanna feel satisfied, not slighted.

  • Gail M.

We have been coming to Rehoboth for years and eaten in many wonderful restaurants. That was not our experience last night at Stingrays. We were greeted by three aloof, bordering on rude, hostesses. We were seated in an area with only two other occupied tables. One of the parties was very loud and the poor acoustics made it impossible to carry on a conversation. The other party in the room asked to be moved and were moved. We asked to be moved and were told that there were no available tables even though we could see many open tables. I can understand our waitress' reluctance to lose her tables but we were not happy. The food was good but not exceptional. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. However, we got the clear impression that that management is not concerned with the customers' experience. The lady's room is too small for a restaurant and bar of this size, and it is dirty. Perhaps one of the hostesses could take time to clean the ladies room. There are too many good restaurants in Rehoboth to waste another night at Stingrays.

Best meal(s) I've had in Rehoboth. Earlier this week I compared reviews to compare this place to Cultured Pearl for sushi and went there instead. But Stingray is better. More creative, seasoned better, fresher. Hands down (though Pearl is excellent). But the overall food combinations at Stingray are outstanding. Pork belly satay was the best small plate I've had in a long time. The Mahi in the tacos was impeccably cooked and seasoned. The crab/chili soup was so good. I'd go back here every time. Also, I've been here a week and had good meals all around but after 6 days this is the place I wish I'd have gone to more than once and where I will 100% come back again.

  • Ronnie J.

My wife and I only go during Happy Hour. The service is what you'd expect from a bar. The sushi rolls are very good. I haven't had one I didn't like. Our only complaint is every time we go in there it's musty and wet feeling. They need a new HVAC unit or they are going to have mold problems. The bar staff never seems to be able to keep things clean either. They should think about extending the half price sushi roll special outside of the bar area. It stinks when you have kids because you can't get the special.

After a super-taxing day of sunning ourselves on the beach, the fe-yonce and I came here for a fresh, light dinner. We ordered tropical martinis which were splendid and came with both gummy garnishes and a sidecar (mini-refill). The drinks were just strong enough to feel warm and fuzzy when our sushi arrived. We started with the duck pot stickers which were super tasty and disappeared within a matter of minutes. Sushi-wise, there was very little selection of vegetarian sushi so that was a little disappointing. But the sushi we ordered was clearly very fresh, was not overloaded with rice and tasted great. Seemed to be multiple takes on tempura crab rolls, but all options were interesting. The service was slow, but the food was worth it. I would come back for sure.

We had a great dinner at Stingrays - server Brynn was awesome! It was a large party of 12 and they handled us with no problems. Food and drinks were tremendous. Definitely a great spot of the main street to go to for a nice dinner!

We had dinner at Stingray on Sunday, July 26th, 2015, around 6:30 P.M. We were lucky enough to be seated outside on the porch which made for a lovely dining setting. Our waiter was very casual but efficient. We began with two small plates, the fish tacos and the firecracker shrimp. Both were excellent, though the fish tacos were a giant mess to eat so be warned (too much stuff and not enough tortilla). We then moved on to our sushi entree which consisted of four flavorful specialty rolls (Crazy Tuna, Negi-Hama, Firecracker, and Red Army), of which the Red Army was the standout. All ingredients in the sushi tasted very fresh and the presentation was nice as well. We also enjoyed the music, which was heavy on 70's and 80's funk. Thanks Stingray for a great evening.

Absolutely HORRIFIC service! We will never go back, despite enjoying many meals here over the past many years. Something has changed dramatically, and management could absolutely care less. It was a slow night, a party of 6, and we were there for 2.5 hours. Clearly a problem with the bar and the kitchen, because our server really seemed to be running and doing all the work herself. It took 40 minutes for our initial drink order to be served (there was only one bartender for the entire restaurant). Several of us ordered sushi, and it sat on plates on the wall for 45 minutes while the kitchen caught up! Needless to say, what is normally pretty good sushi was below-average by the time we were served. Sad, because the food is generally good (although not our favorite), but there appears to be a systematic problem.

Late on this review, but here goes. Our dinner was not good, and the service was abominable. We were here in March, totally the off season, and were one of only three parties in the restaurant. Food tasted odd, (we had some stomach trouble later), and the servers couldn't have cared less that they had customers. It wasn't a busy night at all and yet dinner took nearly two hours. I really wish I had something more positive to say. We won't go back ever again. So disappointing. We had very high hopes.

Nice atmosphere and good food. Asian/Latino fusion, known for their sushi. They have a "sushi happy hour" from 4pm-6pm with buy one/get one sushi rolls. Even at this price, it's a bit pricey, but nice for a treat. The sushi was fresh and they really had some cool combo rolls.

    (3)
  • Robert N.

Excellent rolls, however bar staff very poor Waited several minutes before being acknowledged sitting at the bar and another 5 minutes before getting asked for beverage order & second drink had to request adding additional missing ingredient. Very unattentative for no reason, One employee discussing with patron that there was no management and sports game selection on TV was not their priority. Sad that the previous manager no longer there as she had acknowledge us the last time we where there and she had not seen us in over a year.

Best Sushi on the eastern shore!! From the time you enter the restaurant to the time you leave, sting-rays provides amazing customer service. The staff is wonderful and very helpful, quickly getting you seated and providing water and hand towels. The sushi deserves more than 5 starts. We have eaten here more than 15 times and Everytime is not a disappointment. The Hairy Mexican is always perfectly prepared with fried shrimp, avocado and crab. The Pocono Mountain is very delicious and my personal favorite. The flavor just savors in your mouth, so good i always find myself ordering 3 orders everytime. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu, from the appetizers to the sushi to the main dishes, sting-rays provides a very unique blend of culture, food and service in there resturant. I would recommend this place to everyone. Every Thursday is buy 2 for the price of one sushi night

  • John G.

I was very happy. Hostess was friendly, waitstaff eager, and food outstanding. Sushi rolls are pricey, buy not outrageous. There are a ton of nice apps, and Asian plates. Ambiance is sheek. Music is loud and restaurant is suited more for a 20-30 crowd than an older crowd. It is worth a visit just to check out the cool lighting. Service was friendly, but only fair, they were stretched a bit thin. We really enjoyed everything we ordered, presentation was nice as well. Great for a date night!

Strong gasoline smell -had to leave - staff said something about a power washer - not sure if/when we will try again - used to really like the HH here.

Horrible experience. Went for happy hour. They lure you in with great sushi deals; 2 for 1. The bartender couldn't manage a simple drink order and was somewhat rude when I asked her to forget it and just bring water. We never saw her again. Left without eating. It appeared asthough everyone else was getting the same SLOOOWWW treatment. They want you in for drinks, not sushi.

    (1)
  • Joe G.

Can I say - WOW!!!! The happy hour sushi specials are amazing but the big plus is the Saki. When arriving at the restaurant, we had a short wait for a table so we went to the bar. The bartenders where VERY VERY knowledgeable, especially with the saki (a restaurant specialty). I ordered a "flight" of saki and loved all of the suggestions made! On to dinner, soup great and sushi - YUMMMMMM! My friend had a non-sushi dish and it was good. If you go to Stingray, sushi is what they excel at and the atmosphere is CHIC!

  • Skyler C.

My new go to place for Asian. Absolutely love the building. There's really nice atmosphere in there. The drive for me is about an hour but it's well worth the travel. A tad on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. The steak teriyaki is fantastic, as is the Chilean Sea Bass. The sake sampler was nice. Duck breast potstickers were great. Best calamari I've ever had. Will definitely be back many more times.

As some other yelpers have stated, the customer service has gone way down hill. My husband and I have been regulars of Stingray. During the off season we would go almost weekly. We had friends from out of town and were excited to introduce them to Stingray. Our party of 7 arrived around 7 and the place was hopping. Things started of great. The hostess was friendly and we were promptly seated. We sat at the table as servers and hostesses buzzed by us for approximately 20 minutes. One hostess probably walked by us 4 times and was obliviously not trained to make sure the people she sits are actually being served. My friend got up and informed the the hostess that sat us that we had not been approached by anyone. We sat another 10 minutes with no one approaching. No water and she walked by a couple more times without looking at us. My friend went up to the hostess stand and informed the hostess that no one had come to our table. He returned to the table and reported that 2 of the hostesses looked at each other and stated "I thought you were getting someone". We waited another 10 minutes and we decided to cut our losses and leave. As we walked by the hostess stand, I communicated to the main hostess that we were leaving because no one approached us for approximately half an hour. She looked at me deadpan and said "OK" I looked back at her and said "OK? How about you apologize?" No response. There's bad service and there is unforgivable bad service. Never again Stingray. The problem is that Stingray has hired a gaggle of very young women who have not been trained in good customer service. Consider hiring some experienced hostesses that know how to keep a restaurant moving. In addition, the servers have not been trained to "watch the room" and make sure that all customers are being attended (not just their section). There was no manager on duty and did not look like anyone was in charge. Consider bringing in a professional trainer and hiring competent staff/management before your business goes under. Rehoboth Beach has too many amazing restaurants with well trained and attentive staff. Stingray "management" needs to get control of their restaurant before everyone decides to start supporting Culture Pearl.

Great food! Horrible service! I might have expected to be ignored like this during the summer months, but it's the off season.

    (2)
  • Billy B.

This is a good place for a nice meal and good drinks. They can get crazy busy during the summer so you might want to try them in the off season. The food is good but not worth 1-2 hour wait.

    (4)
  • Will L.

Great sushi! Seemed to be understaffed. Lots of empty tables but a one hour wait. The hostess told us we could sit at the bar right away if we could find a seat. There were plenty of seats available at the bar. No problems with the service and the sushi was outstanding! We were told that most of the bottled beers were unavailable due to problems with the distributor. All signs point to a management problem who is struggling with the staff and can't pay the bills on time. I've seen this story before, and many times it ends in the restaurant going out of business. Hopefully the new owners will keep the same sushi chefs!

Took my husband to Stingray for happy hour this evening. The bartender was also the waitress and there were a dozen or more patrons there. She didn't have the vodka he requested, didn't have the beer he asked for which was a local beer (Dogfish). We sat there for a good 20 minutes with absolutely no service, so we left. We will not be going back. ZERO STARS!

Favorite restaurant in Rehoboth! Just got into town and made reservations. Try their tickle me violet martini. It doesn't disappoint. Great sushi too!

The food is great. Had this amazing thai seafood soup, I still can't stop thinking about it. That was in March. Lol! The last time I dined there it was no longer on the menu :( But I had the Hairy Mexican roll, my fave, and one of the fru fru martinis and was almost as happy. I have never experienced any rudeness from the staff, I go there frequently. I really want to go to one of the Sushi classes they hold in the fall. I always seem to work on the days they have them.

Specifically came here for the sushi special on Saturday with Nicole B and her bf. I told the bartender I liked fruity girly drinks, and she recommended a $14 drink the Mysho Lovely. I declined and ordered a $12 drink that tasted like the backyard. So the bartender made me the drink she originally suggested and gave it to me for free. Nicole B drank the backyard drink because she couldn't let them throw it out. The sushi was fantastic, and it was $60 for $30. We had Motos, Firecracker, and Crunchy Tuna. I didn't know until we left that it was owned my Mikimotos, which explains the fantastic sushi.

  • Keith K.

Food and sushi is great. The wait staff is great. The issue is the bar staff, slow....probably understaffed. And the kitchen, slow...took us an hour to get our appetizers. Don't take it out on the wait staff. The manager(s) need to step it up. Food was great.

I'm with Mary on this one. We USE TO to LOVE this place. We went in w/ kids just before sushi specials ended & ordered quickly. We told them we'd come for sushi specials (say that 5 times fast), but they forgot to bring the specials menu over. When they did, we ordered immediately. Minutes later, we tried to add to our order. Took waitress a while to come over. "Sorry, it's past 6. Specials are over. But you can order @ the regular price." Ugh, no. Really?!? Fine. We also ordered the kids chicken teriyaki. Bill came w/ $17 charge for *kids meal*. When questioned, waitress said "We don't have a kids menu anymore". Really? Again, would have been nice to know when I asked for a "kids chicken teriyaki." Overall feeling was disappointment. Probably wont be back again.

Maybe because this place functions in multiple capacities, or maybe I just like to have a conversation over dinner that does not have to be the volume of the speakers at an AC/DC concert, but really: The crowd is loud and drunk. The music is too loud and more appropriate to a pickup joint than dinner. The service, while truly attentive was just too in-your-face (plus our server happened to be training another server). And most important of all, the food was just mediocre. It was not exceptionally fresh -- no wonder they seem to be pushing the cooked sushi within the menu -- and not all that well prepared. Even the shaved ginger and fake wasabi was below par. And again the menu is trying too hard: is this a sushi place, latin-fare, bar-food, ...? I cannot recommend for dinner. I've had my issues with The Cultured Pearl, but it is at least in the first tier, a whole different league.

This is a combinaTion of times there. Last was three Mondays ok and it should be 2 stars for that visit and two for another, I've had a three star and two four star visits so I combined them all. Last time I ordered broccoli and sashimi appetizer. My fiend Peg ordered three veggie dishes. They tried first to serve us a hairy Mexican roll which we didn't order they came back and asked what did we order?? Seriously? Then after 35 minutes with not a stitch of food and we flagging our server/ bartender who was very busy we find out they are out of broccoli? I said again seriously.? I was advised sometimes veggies can be hard to get. Broccoli is in season and all over just not at sting rays. The manager did come by and get us another vegetable for free but now the Brussels sprouts had bacon. We had asked for them without but we didn't dare send them back. One for time and two didn't want someone to want to spit in my food for being difficult. I like this place but admit off season it can be hit or miss. It wasn't a great time but I will try again before writing it off.

Overall, we had a good/decent experience however the food and drinks are overpriced. The atmosphere is fun and current, almost a club/lounge type of feel. The service was fine, keeping in mind that we went to the establishment on a weekday with hardly any crowd, so I can't speak to how the service is with high traffic. Our waiter (Monday night) was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. I tried two themed martinis which were good (a strawberry one with Pez rimming and a grape lavender one with a sugar rim). If you like unique cocktails, this is a great place to go. The food was solid but, again, too expensive and there were a few small issues. We sent the pork belly appetizer back (burned and too fatty), the kobe beef sliders were overcooked (we ordered medium, they were well done), and the main dishes (Pho and shrimp teriyaki) were overwhelmingly dominated by vegetables. . The portions are large and there is plenty of variety. Small complaint: I was celebrating my 30th birthday (to the day!) and we were still billed for the dessert (my experience with other restaurants in this price range is that they gladly comp. a dessert for the birthday person).

Staff is unwilling to work with you. Don't attempt to go during happy hour EXTREMELY limited seating. A bunch of unwritten rules regarding seating. They appear to offer happy hour as a ploy to get you to the restaurant hoping when "happy hour" seating isn't available you will order ala cart.

We loved the food, but Jessica was a bit either busy, board or could care a crap about us. Edamame fresh and nice with salt, lime and sauce. Loved the hairy Mexican and don't skip dessert!

This place is cool and comfy at the same time. Great rolls with a host of choices. Who can't order a maneater? The waitstaff is very prompt and friendly. Go with whatever they suggest for the night. Great martini touch...nice pour and place the balance in a small ice carafe. That way, you can sip your cool one. Nicely done.

This is the email I sent to management a few days ago and at this point have not heard back..... We dined at Stingray this evening and were very disappointed. We come to your restaurant a few times every summer since our second home is in Bethany and typically bring guests with us. This evening was terrible to say the least. The server was subpar, which is surprising since she was training someone at the time. The miso soup was terrible and tasted like hot water. Our four year old daughter pointed this out to us and I tasted it. I mentioned this to the server and asked if she could have more miso paste added and she said that it was premixed and that is how it was suppose to taste. I told her I have come there many times and always get the soup and to just take it off the bill. Next, the sushi came. We are not sure if it was an off night or not fresh, but nothing had any flavor whatsoever. We are not sure how a piece of tuna, salmon, or lobster can have no flavor unless it is very poor quality or old stock. We have never experienced this at Stingray and have always recommend it to others. We are not the type to complain and didn't want to make a big deal about it in front of other customer. The server did come back and was nicer. Maybe she realized you should never question a customer..... We just wanted to let you know about our poor experience so it doesn't happen to others and are not planning on dining back at your eatablishment. There is nothing worst than spending 115 dollars on dinner for 2 and a half people and walking away not even enjoying the meal.

What has happened to one of my favorite places in town? Service has been slow the last few visits. 2 hours to get served - I'll never wait again - next time I walk out. Over the summer, the portions have gotten smaller and the quality has gone downhill. Very disappointing. Staff/Servers seem to have an attitude problem.

WORST SERVICE EVER! We came here for an early dinner and after learning of 2 for 1 rolls at happy hour, decided to sit at the bar and give it a shot. Despite there being nearly nobody there but a couple of people at the bar, and us, the service was super slow. I was facing the sushi bar, saw our rolls go up on the top of the bar, and they sat for over 10 minutes. This isn't excusable even when the place is busy... when it's empty, it's just sad. When the server served our food, she bumped into some edamame sauce spilling it onto the table in front of me. She says, "be careful, I spilled that". I expected her to come clean it up, but she never did. I wiped it up with my bar napkin, then spent my meal with sticky forearms. (Our waitress was behind the bar socializing with the two bartenders) After the food was delivered, we were nearly done before we were checked on to see if we wanted to order more. The beer we ordered had a blown keg, and we were told that they needed to put another in, then it was forgotten about until we asked again when the waitress finally "checked" on us. (Really she was walking by and we flagged her down) She said, "Oh, I think they are still working on that". Yeah, right. The sushi was okay. Nothing that would earn another star. Same with the decor.

Great service. Can't remember our waitress' name but she recommended the Maya Roll. So glad she did because it was the best! The best dirty Martinis and Pomegranate Martini was delivious. Honey I'm Home had unique blend of whiskey, bacon and honey but the flavor wasn't drinkable. Thank baby Jesus that the waitress was relaxed about switching it. Bill was $102 after 4 rolls, 4 Martinis and a bowl of rice so it's a little pricey but worth it a visit. Warm ambiance, love the squid lights but not a fan of the alien artwork on the wall. Kinda off-style and random since the restaurant is supposed to be an ocean theme. Hence the name Stingray. Overall recommend this place. Great place to start our first night in Rehoboth!

I really used to love this place a few years back when the prices were cheaper and the quality of the food was better, but after my most recent visit with my partner on valentines day, we could tell that things have gone downhill. We ordered the Pad Thai, which used to have duck and scallops in it but now it has shrimp and chicken. That's fine and all, but the duck and scallop version tasted much better and was much cheaper! This version of Pad Thai was $24.00! Ouch! I'm all for paying good money if it was the best food I've ever had, but this wasn't even close to the best. The broth was way too sweet and the chicken looked boiled instead of grilled. Didn't taste right at all. At least the scallop and bacon appetizer was delicious. I don't think we'll be back to Stingray anymore, though. There are better Asian restaurants that are more reasonably priced and have better tasting food (more bang for your buck).

We used to love going to Stingray-- good sushi and cool atmosphere. Being a beach place, we always went early for dinner. After our last experience-- forget it. We won't go back. Tables too small for sushi plates, poor service, lack of accommodation when problems evident. I guess they don't need returning regulars at this place. The are too many great restaurants in town to put up with that.

Awesome sushi and awesome service. Was planing on going to another popular sushi spot in Rehoboth but after not receiving service and a lackluster menu we ended up at stingray. Best decision ever made. Not only was the service really good, the good was amazing! Definitely would recommend this place to everyone.

I called to make reservations for a party of 20. No one answered the phone so I left a message on their answering machine. I hear nothing for a day or two..I call back and leave 3 other messages..still no response. So I call on Friday night at 4pm. Megan says that the manager is busy and will call me back. Saturday Megan calls me to tell me that the manager will be calling me ..Finally they call to say that they wont do parties anymore. Wow it took them over a week to tell me this?..unacceptable. Is the economy that good that they can tell 20 people to get lost? I have used Stingrays countless times to conduct programs for my clients. This is terrible news. I asked Megan to have the owner call me as I have been a loyal customer since they opened their doors. I have not heard a word. Unacceptable

Way overpriced and it smelled like old fryer oil from those big unmentionable chain restaurants. We were the ONLY diners (should have been a clue I know) and it took them an hour and a half to serve us. Food was mediocre at best, not all that clean, bad stressful music, I'll stop there. At the beach I expect neither cheap nor gourmet but this place really was a waste- give into the guilty pleasure of beach fries and save yourself the frustration.

The service and atmosphere were great. However, the sushi cost twice as much as anywhere else and either tasted the same or unfortunately, in my case, worse.

Came here on Sat afternoon for bogo free sushi rolls at the bar. The bartender was very patient with us. Sherry J is a princess when it coms to ordering drinks. Against the bartenders advice she ordered something she didn't like. The bartender made her the original drink that was suggested on the house(which was 14.00) which was really nice. The sushi was good. 4 stars mostly for the service. It is kind of dumb that the rolls are bogo free but only the same kind. So lucky for us there were 3 of us so we all shared 6 rolls. But if I had paid regular price I would have been in the whole 50.00 and starving still! But this was just the beginning of the snack crawl.

I was just in Rehoboth for vacation and decided to eat out one night. I found this place via a map that I had and did take out. The restaurant had a young, cool atmosphere, with a very modern decor. On too the food, it.....was....AMAZING!!!! The sushi was to die for! The first thing that caught my eye was the names of the different types of rolls. They where unique and very original. The next thing was the presentation. The sushi was presented in a neat and clean fashion. Finally, the taste. It was heaven in my mouth! It was so so so so good! My only reservation was the prices, they where more on the expensive side, but like I said I was on vacation so I splurged and it was SOOO worth it! Go here...you won't regret it!

I have read quite a few reviews that cite the service at Stingray as being bad. I guess my friends and I have been lucky, because I have NEVER had a bad service experience. In fact, I think it is some of the most consistently good service in town. This is a BUSY restaurant (that does not have an "identity problem", as one recent review stated-a restaurant can be a restaurant, bar, lounge AND nightclub) that serves great food at a fair price for what you are getting. These servers HUSTLE and I never see anyone standing around being complacent, even off season. If you want interesting Asian food with an interesting Latin twist (for some of the choices), check this place out.

  • Leslie B.

Poor service, repeatedly, which is unfortunate because the food and atmosphere is good. I have darn near fossilized on several occasions waiting for my order to be taken or to get a drink. Bartenders are always chatting excessively to each other and will think nothing of letting you wait unnecessarily to take an order. Very frustrating..my experience last week the same..except this time when the bartender knew I was annoyed she shorted me on my martini..I returned the favor when it came time to tip her..so ridiculous.

I came strictly for sushi with a friend but I wasn't disappointed! We went with the Stingray roll (it was only appropriate for our first visit) and the Washington roll. The signature Stingray roll was beyond delish! I have always like shrimp tempura in my rolls but the best part was actually the eel (unagi) on top. All of the flavors together really put in a kick. As for the Washington roll, I was not impressed. I love scallops but this roll was flavorless; even more so than a California roll. Our appetizers included Miso Soup which my friend said he would have preferred more seaweed (wakame) and the arugula salad which I thought was a perfect portion leaning on the larger side and just right before diving into our rolls. Next time you are in Rehoboth Beach, head over! Inside is a little dark so ask to be seated outside. Our waitress was about our age (young) but very friendly!

I'm updating this based on a visit last night. They have changed their happy hour sushi menu, and we are not particularly happy with the selections. But the sushi seems to be back on spot and if I were rating that alone it would be a 5. But as I mentioned in a prior review, the server was not overly attentive. Nor are the entrees up to snuff for the prices they are charging. My husband did a steak and shrimp and he was nonplussed about it.

Tucked away down a non-descript street, this spot is a decent find. Good food, mannered servers, appropriate musical selection. Room for improvement-- improve outside look, had a little bit of funky smell, make sure bathrooms clean at all time.

You have to go for happy hour! Buy one roll get one free. The Harry Mexican is delish! I tried the fried rice the other night as well and it was on point. We love the atmosphere here. It's very sleek and dim. Service is not always the fastest but the food makes up for it.

    (4)
  • Blair G.

Everything is fresh & delicious. Especially love the Hairy Mexican rolls & fried calamari. As for the complaints about service; It's a popular sushi place and can get very busy at peak hours so slower service is to be expected- but I think it's worth it.

I've been here several times. Definitely a cool place and has some very good food. The service here however has never been good any of the times of come. They aren't very attentive and rarely check up on you.

I have eaten here on three occasions... I typically order Sushi but have ordered other things as well. The sushi is so heavy and fishy I cannot eat it....and feel sick if I try to. The service is mediocre and the prices are quite high. Our bill for 3 people was 150$ and none of us really enjoyed our food. We probably should have sent most of it back but didn't. You can get better quality food for just about the same price a few blocks down.... I will NOT be dining here again.

This place has an identity problem. They are a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, a club, uh... Regardless, my family and I went for dinner and were both underwhelmed by the service and food. Our server was unmemorable and the rolls were dry. If they focused on their service and product as much as the ambiance then it could be a lot better.

  • Hector V.

Food was ok, service slow and innattentive. Skip it. You can get the same quality sushi at lots of places, but save yourself the aggravation. For these prices I'd expect exceptional service & this place is lacking.

A rare 5 Star Review. Woah. Stingray was the whole package. Great food, great service, and a classy atmosphere and comfortable environment. My partner and I ordered the sushi/sashimi for two, it comes out on a wooden "boat" platter. I tasted flavors I have never tasted before, I am not kidding. The cuts were so perfectly done and the fish was so fresh. It rocked my world. It's made other sushi seem like Chicken of the Sea. It's on the "must go to" list for Rehoboth when we visit.

Everyone in my group ordered sushi, except one person who got a teryaki meal. None of us were that impressed with the food, and everyone had the same complaint that the rolls were very dry and not flavorful. I'm very picky about my sushi, and despite the many recommendations, I was not impressed with the food here. I don't even remember the service, so it was neither great nor horrible. I would skip this place if I went back to Rehoboth.

For the way this place bills itself - Asian Latino Bistro - should have been a warning not to go in. But I was with friends and we decided to give it a try. Sushi - had much better. It was only average and the slices of fish were small and puny for the prices ($7 for 2 piece sushi - expensive). The fish was not as fresh as I expected and not tasty. Average at best. Appetizers - calamari, lettuce bowls and edamame. Calamari - bland. Lettuce Bowls - okay, not great. Go to a Chinese restaurant to experience better. Edamame - bland, cooked without salt and served HOT (which is the wrong way to serve it). Cultured Pearl - a much better experience in food quality for the same price. Next time, if given a choice - pick a restaurant that specializes in one cuisine and not some bad fusion. Asian Latino Bistro - NOT. Take a pass. Our bill for 6 people came to $310. Expensive and not so good food.

Fabulous! A gem! Bold and exotic, yet at the same time, down to earth and accessible. The flavors are well calculated takes on classic Asian and Latin American standards. The server was prompt, pleasant, and educated. They even have a private parking lot, a rarity in Rehoboth. This place runs on all cylinders! The wine list and cocktail menu is huge and offers some interesting choices. I had a fiery concoction called "Last Chance for Mary Jane", a well balanced blend of Thai chili, fresh blackberry syrup, anejo tequila, lime, and Thai basil. Not too sweet with a big kick of heat on the back end. It went well with and did not mask my food selections. The separate sushi menu runs the gamut from classic nigiri, sashimi, and roll selections to a wide variety of inspired chef creations. I tried the Red Army roll which featured a delicate blend of jumbo lump crabmeat, tempura "Frick" (nibbles off fried tempura batter to give crunch) topped with spicy tuna. Wonderful! I usually shy away from spicy tuna rolls because that usually means tuna slices with spicy mayo that overshadows the roll. Not here. This spicy tuna was a light mulch of tuna with just enough sauce to bind it. The overall aspect of the roll was harmonious on its own and brought to another level with a touch of soy and wasabi! We also sampled some excellent toro (medium fatty bluefin tuna belly) from the sushi side. From the Latin side we sampled two ceviches. I got Black Grouper and Steve got Big Eye Tuna. Both we excellent served simply with fresh crispy tortilla chips. The menu features a selection of small plates and salads too. Steve sampled a baby spinach salad with jicama, peanuts and a yummy lime coconut dressing. We could have enjoyed sushi and small plates all night but there were many enticing entrees to try, I couldn't resist. Our wonderful server suggested the Chilean sea bass with sambal chili glaze and crispy sticky rice cake, but I had to try the Scallop and Duck Pad Thai. I wanted to order both but my appetite and wallet couldn't afford it! The Pad Thai was excellent. Not exactly the traditional street fare but an upscale highly respectable version. Huge seared diver scallops and slices of duck breast adorned the rice noodles. The sauce had a nice balance of lime and tamarind. I appreciate he use of fresh tamarind rather than the paste. It makes all the difference. My only negative was that the duck was a bit overcooked for my liking but delicious all the same. I tried some of Steve's Thai grilled beef salad. It featured flank steak cooked to order over a bed of Bibb lettuce, green beans, tomatoes, and topped with peanuts. Very traditional and well executed. They had a dessert menu that wasn't necessarily congruent with the other food offerings. Since most Asian restaurants fail in the dessert department, I'm not sure that it's a bad thing. However we were too full to try any at that time. (and to be honest, we planned on going to Cold Stone later that night, LOL) I know I review a lot of pricey places but Stingray is worth it! The service was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and the portions were surprisingly large for an upscale Rehoboth joint. The place is huge and features a bar area, a large oval sushi bar, a large dining room with tables, two alcoves with spacious booths, and outdoor porch seating. If I have one criticism, it's that the music (which was appropriately bistro-jazzy) was too loud which caused the clientele to talk too loudly. Request booth seating for a party of 4 or less. The music seemed less obtrusive there. My new fav for a classy casual upscale dining experience. Go!

We enjoyed our first visit to Stingray a few nights ago. Everything was delicious. We started with the fried calamari, which had a light fry and a delicious sauce to dredge them through. I got chicken teriyaki and my husband got the Hairy Mexican. Everything was great, and we can't wait to go back!

I would really like to give this place 5 stars because it used to be great but they are slacking since the last few times I've been here. I went in with a party of 6 for happy hour and because we had one person under 21 who was (20) we were not allowed at the bar. I think thats ridiculous however I totally understand if its a legal thing. So we then asked to be seated at the sushi bar. They had 5 open seats at the sushi bar all next to each other by the end. Naturally I walked over and asked if we could be seated there and the two hostesses said they weren't sure, couldn't find the manager and that it would be a 45 min wait (in a completely not busy restaurant and also meaning happy hour would be over) finally we found the manager and she did what was obvious. Move an extra chair over to accommodate. With that said I think they should hire different hostesses that can handle such simple situations because that was just sort of ridiculous. Policies are also now changed so if you order sushi at happy hour you cant take home your left overs etc etc. This place is just going downhill. Hopefully someone can come clean house and fix back these "new policies" that are obnoxious.

I've visited Stingray a number of times, but this last time earned itself a four star rating. First, I have to give most of the credit to our waitress, Lacey, she was amazing. Our party had four people, aged 13-90. It was a challenge from the start. Lacey was kind and patient and took the time to answer our questions. The food arrived in a timely fashion and each course was spaced out from the one before it. Lacey offered us a few suggestions of eats and drinks and really made our dinner enjoyable. The manager also stopped by to see if we liked our drinks, and that added a nice touch. The food here is delicious, and the mixed drinks are a blast. Go visit and enjoy!

Amazing sushi and drinks! My friend and I went for their happy hour which has a 2 for 1 sushi deal. Stingray's "2 for 1" means double the sushi, so basically we paid for 2 sets of rolls and had about 24 rolls of amazing sushi! It isn't the cheapest happy hour and they don't have HH specials on drinks (why i gave 4 instead of 5 stars) but the quality of the food is superb and excellent service. My suggestions to win the coveted 5 star status: happy hour prices on cocktails and turning down the music just a bit.

We ate dinner at Stingray during Memorial Day weekend, and we had a great experience. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived (7 pm on Saturday) and the hostess seated us at a semi-private table in the corner. The sushi menu is very extensive, although we were disappointed that inari was not on it. The service was excellent, and the waitress was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I also enjoyed the decor -- red and black wallpaper with some Speed Racer-looking artwork on the walls. One note for vegetarians though...I got the vegetarian sushi platter and didn't like it. It was the "sushi cones" instead of rolls. I would have preferred to just order an avocado roll or a vegetable roll. I didn't understand the menu though, so that's probably my fault. Still, I think they should just stick with rolls, not the hand rolled cones. Other than that, everything was great!

Went during happy hour (2 for 1 deals on five different maki), and had a great meal. The sushi was every bit as good as (and cheaper than) the nearby Cultured Pearl, although there was less variety. Tuna ceviche was also great. Nice, quick service.

  • Joe L.

went for happy hour and you had to get two of the same rolls for the happy hour price. I would've gladly paid for the more expensive roll to get some variety. I am a big sushi fan and these rolls were mainly rice with little fish or vegetables. The wine was way overpriced and I asked for a good bourbon (Woodford) and they had very little selection. Service was ok. I was disappointed and it will be awhile until I go back. I think the Cultured Pearl has better sushi and drink selection.

We love to try new places, and love seafood and sushi! On October 1st, Our B&B hostess told us about Stingray, so we were looking forward to our dinner. However, while the hostess and waitress were great, very friendly and attentive. the food was uneven (pho and tuna ceviche very good) and some was downright bad (sticky, mushy ikura) But the worst thing was the music!! It is like a really bad video game or a jazz musician on acid (having a bad trip) Relentless, redundant, annoying music. I would like to go back if the quality of the food goes up and the music gets changed.

Wow! Such mixed reviews. I have eaten at Stingray a number of times and last weekend was ex optionally good. It was almost like they had a new chef. I had the Sea Bass with the Salmon Carpaccio appetizer and it was mouth meltingly delicious. We had a fairly large party of seven people with a lot of special requests and the service was excellent. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the Avocado Cheesecake. It just isn't right.

I've always gone to the Cultured Pearl, but thought we would give Stingray a try. Glad we did, we knew this place was a night club before, but the atmosphere was calm and inviting. We had the calamari, and shared a fish entree and a sushi combo. Great food, I recommend it!

The food was excellent. Very costly but the portions were somewhat generous. However when its dark out side the dim lighting can hurt you eye sight. The chopstick a made for a Vietnam soup cal pho which make the think and heavy. There not easy for beginners to eat sushi with. The cup are almost like wine glasses which if chilled can crack the glass. The timing on serving the food was a bit off from the Japanese restaurants I've been to before. However the server I had was very kind. One of the hostess also had a nice conversation which was very refreshing. I suggest going in the day time with a bunch of friends.

My curiosity led me to this Asian/Latin fusion spot, and I am glad it did. For our appetizer, we ordered the grouper ceviche with crispy wontons and a sriracha dipping sauce. It was a perfect translation of the Asian/Latin theme and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten! (An accolade I very rarely utter). I would return to Stingray even if just for this. For dinner we ordered sushi, which was decent (better than the Cultured Pearl a few blocks away and with larger portions), and there was no shortage of creative maki rolls, but I've had better. Maybe this is my fault for not sticking with the fusion theme. We were seated outdoors, and the ambiance there was gorgeous. Our server said he had studied at a Le Cordon Bleu satellite, and his great descriptions made this training evident. I will definitely be returning but I will skip over the sushi next time.

We couldn't wait to go back to stingray for dinner and once again it did not disappoint. We ordered 4 small plates to share for the two of us: the fish tacos, shrimp shumai, pork spring rolls with black bean papaya salad and calamari. Our server was attentive and personable. My husband ordered the violet martini and I a cosmopolitan both so delicious we had another round. The fish tacos with grouper were delicious and the chipotle mayo served with them put them over the top. The shrimp shumai were almost like a seafood pate and very filling. The pork spring rolls were okay and the calamari were average and we probably didn't need to order them as we were completely stuffed. We will be back!

We tried stingray for the 1st time tonight and were so pleased. At first I wasn't sure I would like anything on the menu (I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food; I like what I like and rarely try anything new). So it took me a while to pick something. Our waitress was very patient and answered my questions knowledgeably. I settled on the shrimp shumai app w/coconut crab bisque (fab!), and the teriyaki duck. Both were very good, though next time in would probably ask for lighter sauce. My husband got the bacon wrapped jalepenos and the twin tempura lobster tails. He liked both as well. We wanted to try the sushi too, but knew we couldn't eat all that food. We plan to go back for a sushi lunch this week! Also I love the decor of the restaurant it was modern and charming. We got to sit on the porch with its large windows opening up to the street; I loved the ambiance and i think it really contributed to a great overall experience.

the sushi rolls are outstanding!!! the malay roll, and the hairy mexican(great name) are to die for. the pan seared seabass melts in your mouth. the risotto wasnt great, bland, and tasted like cream, but i go here for the rolls. i agree litle pricey, but worth it. and best of all has take out ill 1am, great for those late nite munchies!!!!!
